New Hampshire Sea Grant (NHSG) is excited to announce that applications are now open for the next cohort of CoastWise, a professional development and networking program designed to help early and mid-career professionals build new skills and networks in the field of coastal resilience and marine resource management.

The upcoming cohort will run from August 2025 through June 2026

What is CoastWise?

CoastWise provides participants with hands-on training, field experiences, and a collaborative network to advance best practices in coastal resilience and resource management. Through workshops and real-world experiences, participants gain the tools to address coastal challenges facing the region such as flooding and changing agricultural and fishery conditions. CoastWise forges connections between researchers, practitioners, decision-makers, and students around the state to build a more resilient and sustainable future.

Since its launch, CoastWise has contributed to New Hampshire’s workforce by building a network of 60 professionals through three cohorts, who have used CoastWise to strengthen their networks and skills to build multi-disciplinary connections needed to improve our relationship with coastal and marine ecosystems and the people who depend on them.

Training includes two multi-day in-person workshops, two day-long field trips, and four additional webinars. The workshops offer a mix of field trips, deep dives into the issues, skill building, and networking opportunities. Topics covered include:

Gulf of Maine context

Land-to-Sea social and ecological connections

Coastal resilience and healthy coastal ecosystems
