In order to participate in Family Boat Building Weekend, eligible families must complete an online application and submit full payment. The application and payment must be received by the first week of May.
Online Application and Essay
Age requirements: Each family must include at least one child, age 12 or older. This program is not ideal for children younger than age 12 due to the attention span and physical work required; however exceptions have been made for eager, mature 10 and 11 year olds. Multi-generational families, extended families, and single parents are encouraged to apply.
Essay: Each family will be asked to submit a short essay (3-4 paragraphs) about why they would like to participate in Family Boat Building Weekend. The essay should be written by the youngest child or children in the family. The purpose of the essay is to demonstrate to the event organizers that the youngest members of the family understand what the weekend entails and are genuinely interested in the boat building process. You can include the essay in the online application or email it separately to Dari Christenson (dari.christenson@unh.edu). If emailing, please write "Will email" in the essay section of the online application.
Confirm Acceptance:
Once your application and essay have been received and reviewed, you will be notified by Dari Christenson about acceptance into the program. Acceptance will happen on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.
